Gold Coast Suns yet to find the answer behind AFL lapses
Anthony Miles says it’s the million dollar question he doesn’t have the answer to. A second-half fade out has cost the Gold Coast Suns who lost to the Sydney Swans by 42-points at the SCG.

ANTHONY Miles says it’s the million dollar question he doesn’t have the answer to.
A second-half fade out has cost the Gold Coast Suns who went from being a chance of producing a second-straight win over the Sydney Swans at the SCG before becoming passengers on the way to a 14.9 (93) to 7.9 (51) loss in Round 15.
Gold Coast led by a point at the first break, trailed by four at halftime and were completely outworked and outclassed in the second half to succumb to a 10th straight loss.
The Suns have significantly reduced their average losing margin and are in games longer this season but their lapses in various stages of the game always come, and their opponents know it.
“I wish I had an answer for (it),” Miles said.

“It’s the million dollar question for us at the moment.
“We are just playing two quarter, three quarters. We know if we can play four quarters we will be in most games and I think we have shown that in the past.
“We let ourselves down offensively a bit and the exciting thing about that is that we can control that.
“That involves our ball use and running patterns off the ball. It’s probably a real growth area in the contest as well.
“We matched them in the first half and that is probably a strength of Sydney and the second half we probably dropped away and they were able to get the game on their terms.”
Despite Gold Coast’s losing run going into double figures, Miles said the belief and confidence of the group was yet to be dented.
“It’s a funny one because it certainly doesn't feel like 10 in a row,” Miles said.

“The belief and willingness to want to improve every week from the guys has been awesome and it’s not like we have been blown out of the park. We have been competitive in most games, bar a couple of them.
“Once that belief comes and we start winning and things are going to be pretty exciting.
“Every week we are getting better and working on different elements of our game.
“You have to remember at the start of the year 13 new players and staff came into the club so it will take time to gel and connect.”
