Gold Coast Suns lose strength and conditioning coach to AFL rivals Hawthorn

The Gold Coast Suns have lost one of their high performance staff to AFL rival Hawthorn.

GOLD Coast strength and conditioning coach Zane Leonard has left the club to join AFL rivals Hawthorn in Melbourne.

Leonard exited the Suns in recent weeks and the club confirmed it would seek a replacement for the respected former high performance member.

The 35-year-old is originally from Melbourne and has family in Victoria.

Leonard previously spent time with Super Rugby franchise the Melbourne Rebels and arrived at the Suns at the end of 2015 when former high performance manager Justin Cordy joined the Queensland club.

Leonard once played with Gary Ablett at underage level and spent time on Collingwood’s list as a rookie.

It’s understood Leonard is the only member of the football department to exit the Suns throughout the off-season.
