And she believes some of her current and future teammates could soon follow in her footsteps.
Single had never heard of Australian rules football when she moved to Australia from New Zealand and only started playing as a “joke” with her friends when Miami entered their first side.
And while Miami’s 2016 victory rates highly, the 17-year-old hopes to create more history this year and help deliver Miami’s third straight Schools Cup.
Miami’s 2020 campaign kicks off on Wednesday with AFL Queensland’s invitational gala day at Coorparoo AFC.
“We have a lot of new girls this year but it’s awesome to see them giving a new sport a crack,” Single said.
“Some of our new girls are exactly where I was when I started playing so they could go on to have awesome footy careers.
“Every year we’ve been a team of newbies which I think has made us really unique and allowed us to do so well because of their excitement.
“The first time we won in 2016 was amazing because it was the first time we entered and went on to win and it was also my first year of footy but hopefully we can make it four titles in five years this year.”
