Adrian Dodoro officially parts way with Bombers after receiving significant settlement

The Adrian Dodoro era at Essendon is officially over, but not without one last deal going down to the wire, this time involving legal proceedings with the Fair Work Commission.

One of the longest relationships in the AFL has finally come to an end with Essendon and its long-time list manager Adrian Dodoro officially parting ways.

Dodoro’s exit from the Bombers had been in the works for more than 12 months but didn’t become a reality until following a hearing at the Fair Work Commission on Wednesday.

The list boss had been seeking an increased payout from the club which he’d had ties to for more than three decades before starting a full-time role in 1997.

Lawyers for Dodoro lodged proceedings with the Fair Work Commission over a number of issues including discrimination, workplace rights and absence due to illness or injury.

The hearing took place at 9am and by Wednesday afternoon Dodoro and Essendon agreed to a significant six-figure settlement.

“After 27 years Essendon Football Club and Adrian Dodoro have amicably parted ways,” a joint statement said.

The end of Dodoro’s reign started last year when former West Coast Eagles and Gold Coast Suns player Matt Rosa was appointed by new CEO Craig Vozzo to oversee the recruiting and list management.

In August, Vozzo confirmed Dodoro had stepped away from the club for personal reasons.
