Warwick Capper banned from all AFL venues after treatment of female catering staff at the MCG

Warwick Capper has been banned from attending all AFL venues for five years and fined after obscene behaviour to women at the MCG – and he’s not happy about it. See his response here.

Warwick Capper has been banned from all AFL venues for the next five years after wild scenes during the 2024 grand final.

The former Sydney champion will also be unable to attend the MCG for other events, including cricket and concerts, for his behaviour at the ground.

But the AFL and MCG has banned the former great after he was reportedly heavily intoxicated and allegedly made vile comments.

It has been reported he also used derogatory language and intimidated a female staff member before being removed from the corporate suite and evicted from the MCG.

Warwick Capper and his manager Tony Marks told the Herald Sun: “We’ve known about that outcome for a while and somehow eight months to the day it’s in the press”.

“No doubt there’s a few inappropriate things said in the caricature that is Warwick Capper and playing the class clown, but five years from every AFL venue, including no cricket, concerts … that stinks.”

Capper allegedly said to a catering employee “you’re a nice looking girl, you’d get a job in my brothel”, however his manager said Capper didn’t say that directly to the staff member.

“He did make a light-hearted joke to somebody in the room,” Marks said.

“But not with any ill will. He definitely didn’t walk up and say it directly to her.”

“There’s a generation of people who didn’t grow up with Warwick but for 95 percent of people in that room he was being the joking Warwick Capper, an entertainer.

“He knows he needs to pull his socks up with some of his jokes, but under no circumstances would he want anyone to be offended. He was making a joke and it was overheard and offence was taken.”

Capper is undergoing tests to see whether he has any damage from concussions from his high-flying career, saying in April he “had a lot of head knocks” when he played.

It is the latest in a series of indiscretions for Capper, who was booted out of an Altona sports club earlier this year for antics which included attempting to simulate rude acts with a worker.
