From Nashville’s biggest stages to “intimate shows” at home, local star Chloe Styler says some of her favourite performances happen in her own backyard.

Home is where the art is for Gold Coast singer‑songwriter Chloe Styler, who is relishing the city’s ever‑evolving live music scene.

From performing at Nashville’s CMA Fest to The Bluebird Cafe and support slots for Australian legends such as Shannon Noll, Adam Harvey, Lee Kernaghan and Troy Cassar‑Daley, the born and bred Gold Coaster says her passion for her home is as strong as the lure of huge crowds.

“I’ve been putting these events on at the Botanic Gardens in Ashmore called The Girlhood Socials, where we get together and share live acoustic music and community,” she told The Bulletin as part of our weekly series celebrating the region.

“You get to connect with people in a real way.

“They’ve been the highlight of my year.”

She said she loves the Gold Coast because it has “such a vibrant mix of energy”.

“You have the buzz of the night-life and live music scene, but also beaches, nature and quiet spots where you can just breathe.”

Styler hosted the Gold Coast Music Awards last month, where she was nominated for Artist of the Year and short-listed for Song of the Year – recognition that underscores a scene she says is thriving for newcomers.

“The music scene here has grown up so much recently,” she said.

“There are definitely more opportunities now for gigs and collaborations, and it feels like there’s more room for emerging artists to really make their mark.”

She’s also buzzing for the new arena earmarked for Southport.

“It’s so exciting.”
