DREAMWORLD’S landmark Tower of Terror is set to be overshadowed by three massive towers proposed for a site next door to the theme park.
A 12-storey hotel plus two residential towers of 22 and 27 storeys will become Coomera’s first high-rises under a development application lodged with the Gold Coast City Council.
The Beattie Road complex has been proposed by developer Gordon Corp and would have multiple large swimming pools, a retail precinct and would be just a short distance from the 2018 Commonwealth Games precinct.
It is earmarked for empty land on the corner of Beattie Road and Dreamworld Parkway.
Area councillor and city planning boss Cameron Caldwell said the project was an “exciting proposal”.
“This would be one of the largest single projects ever delivered in Coomera and would be the area’s first high-rises,” he said.
“This is an exciting proposal and would provide the area tourist accommodation which would service both the nearby theme park and the city’s north as a whole.”
The project will go before the council’s planning committee for approval following the March 19 election.
