MAYD property Group unveils plans for $350m Kirra Beach hotel and residential development

Plans for a giant $350m multi-tower luxury hotel and residential project next to one of the world’s most famous beaches have been unveiled on the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast housing prices skyrocket

Plans for a giant $350m multi-tower luxury hotel and residential project on the beachfront at North Kirra have been unveiled.

The complex, known as Kirra Beach, will be two towers of 10 storeys each and will be built on a 4742sq m site amalgamated from land on Pacific Parade, Golden Four Drive and Musgrave Street by developer MAYD property Group.

It will sit opposite Kirra Surf and just a short distance from the North Kirra Surf Life Saving Club.

The residential tower will have just 60 luxury units while the five-star hotel will have 160 rooms.

MAYD Group founder and director Todd Mould said the hotel would be the first of its kind in the city’s south.

“We have been working with Gold Coast City Council on lodging the development application to deliver a landmark building of high distinction for such a prominent site, keeping the local environment and community front of mind,” he said.

“The Gold Coast is a world-renowned tourism and lifestyle destination and spots like Kirra are among the most popular with locals and visitors.

“Given the site is just 1km from the Gold Coast Airport that is being expanded for extra capacity to attract new carriers and new international and domestic flight connections, we recognised the need for a five-star hotel, as well as private apartment residences, to meet demand from global travellers and people who work remotely.”

Mr Mould said the company was negotiating with a “global five-star hotel operator” to deliver the project.

It will primarily feature units of between two and four bedrooms, with each having “resort-style amenities including a private pool area with sunken lounge and wet edge, a relaxation zone with sauna, shower and spa, yoga lawn, bar and barbecue as well as a lounge and cinema”

The tower was designed by MAS Studio.

It is the latest in a string of southern Gold Coast projects which are dramatically reshaping the border area.

The first stage of KTQ Group’s nearby $380m Kirra Point development is nearly completion, with the doors of a revamped Kirra Beach Hotel set to open on November 8, right in time for the summer season.

Also opening in November will be the Kirra Beach House, a 1200sq m “elevated beachfront dining, drinking and event destination with an unparalleled and unobstructed view of the shimmering blue horizon of ocean and sky from every vantage point in the venue”.

More than $1bn worth of projects are currently proposed or under construction in the city’s south.

Leading Melbourne developer BeckDev is planning its 17-storey Palais Coolangatta project on the former Jazzland site, while Arium Group, the private development company headed by Sunland managing director Sahba Abedian, has lodged plans for the first stage of its planned redevelopment of the Greenmount Beach Resort overlooking one of the world’s most famous surf breaks.

The Eden Ave Residences will have three towers which rise over Snapper Rocks, with the first to be 16 storeys.
