DEVELOPER Jim Raptis wants to build a $190m high-rise on a residential Broadbeach street.
The Raptis company, jointly run by Mr Raptis and his son Evan, has filed plans with the Gold Coast City Council for the 41-storey tower on a 1821sq m site on Chelsea Ave.
It will have 180 units, 36 of which will have two bedrooms. The remainder will be three-bedroom apartments.
Raptis, which already has more than $250m of towers under construction on the Coast, hopes to begin construction in late 2022.
Jim Raptis said the Chelsea Ave tower had been designed for post-Covid living arrangements.
“The opportunity to convert third bedrooms into home offices or an additional media or living space is a popular request,” he said.
“We anticipate this demand will increase as home-life and work-life coexist post Covid.”
“Across our developments, we’ve seen an emerging appreciation of space and lifestyle from buyers”.
It has been an eventful half-year for Jim Raptis, who, along with wife Helen and son Evan, faces an $80m asset freeze, including the veteran developer’s $20m Paradise Waters mansion.
The freeze came as the ATO seeks $109.7m from Mr Raptis, members of his family and other entities they allege are linked to him.
