An infinity spa, giant underground garage and a “Christmas room” are just some of the wild features planned for this new mega mansion in one of the Gold Coast’s most exclusive suburbs.

Gold Coast housing prices skyrocket

A MEGA mansion is to be built next to the city’s biggest house.

David and Larissa Schembri have lodged plans with the Gold Coast City Council for an ultra-luxury four-storey Hamptons-style home on a 734sq m site on Knightsbridge Parade East, Sovereign Islands.

Planning documents reveal the 16.5m-tall house will feature four bedrooms and a seven-space carpark in its basement.

The basement level will have a gym, cellar and bar and elevator.

There will be a waterfront infinity pool, Christmas room, study, lounge, a grand foyer, walk-in cold room, cards room, sauna, infinity spa and rooftop sky lounge with a viewing deck overlooking the northern Broadwater.

The Schembri house will be built next door to 26 Knightsbridge Parade East, a giant six-bedroom “super mansion” which was on the market this year for more than $32m.

It was sold in an unfinished state for $5.3m in 2013 by Perth engineer Ric Rizzi at a mortgagee auction.

Plans to build a number of mega mansions have been lodged with council in the past 18 months.

This month, Robert Stavrides, the former boss of iconic fashion brand Chanel’s Korean arm, filed plans for a palatial three-level house on an 837sq m waterfront Paradise Waters block on Commodore Drive overlooking the Nerang River.

THE former boss of iconic fashion brand Chanel’s Korean arm will build a mega mansion on the Gold Coast.

Robert Stavrides, who was the chief executive of Chanel Korea, and his wife, Sarina have unveiled plans for the palatial three-level house on an 837sq m waterfront block of Commodore Drive overlooking the Nerang River.

The couple are understood to be moving to Queensland from Sydney to be closer to family.

The 11m-tall house will have a range of features, including a giant spiral staircase at its heart, a four-car garage in its basement, waterfront swimming pool, wine cellar, a large wooden pontoon, a lift and sunbathing deck.

There will be four bedrooms, including a giant master bedroom on its top floor with his-and-her ensuites and a walk-in wardrobe, a skygarden and study.

The Commodore Drive site was previously home to a mansion which has since been demolished.

Mr Stavrides was the Korean head of Chanel for more than 15 years before he retired and relocated back to Sydney.

In June, the couple sold their three-bedroom home at the historic 1913-era Kilmory estate mansion in the blue blood Point Piper region for $11.8m.

They bought it 2010.

They will now trade Sydney Harbour views for Paradise Waters.

It is the latest in a series of mega mansions proposed for sites on the Nerang River in the past 18 months
