Beachfront Currumbin house sets new record for southern Gold Coast

The sale of a beachfront property has set a new record for a southern Gold Coast house and made a short Currumbin street a market hotspot. WHAT IT WENT FOR >>>

Gold Coast housing prices skyrocket

AN $11.3 million sale of a beachfront property has set a new record for a southern Gold Coast house and made a short Currumbin street a market hotspot.

The house, at 16 Darwalla Ave and on the largest beachfront site in Currumbin, was not on the market but sold after an approach to the owner.

Its sale comes a month after another house in the seven-block street, the Dunes at No. 8, sold for $10 million before auction.

Both sales followed an RSL purchase earlier this year of a large beachfront holding at No. 14 for $6.5 million.

Darwalla Ave is in an area with a three-storey height limit.

CULTURE KINGS QUEEN SELLS ASHMORE MANSION FOR SUBURB RECORD

Ed Cherry, the Harcourts Coastal agent who handled the sales of 8 and 16 Darwalla Ave, yesterday said the latest buyers were a Gold Coast couple.

Property records show the $11.3 million seller as Kathryn Conforti, who is a director of Neumann Constructions.

The four-bedroom house, completed in 2018, is on a 1283sqm site.

Mr Cherry said the new owners had no intention of developing the site – ‘the home on it is state of the art’.

The 750sqm Palm Beach-inspired house includes two large lounge rooms, one with a fireplace, sit-in entertainment wine cellar, big office-library, Cbus security system, sauna and ozone pool.

It has been built with provision for a lift well and for a Tesla car charger.

Six of the seven properties in Darwalla Ave are on the beachfront.

Mr Cherry said the street was a contradiction to what was happening in other beachfront locations.

“Houses aren’t being knocked down to make way for apartment buildings.

“Apartments are being demolished to make way for houses, as happened with the numbers 8 and 16.”

The RSL has not revealed plans for its Darwalla site, which has a 34-metre beach frontage, but is believed to be working toward a luxury project.
