As the icy winter weather rolls across the Darling Downs warm yourself up with the abundance of things to do across the region this weekend.

1. We Will Rock You
Step into a dystopian world where live music is banned and citizens are kept docile on a diet of corporate-approved synthetic music in Toowoomba State High School’s rendition of We Will Rock You, the jukebox musical packed with Queen classics. Sessions are running on June 7 at 12.30pm and 6.30pm at TSHS Performing Arts Centre. Tickets on the door, $10 for students and concession, $15 for adults.
2. Sadie’s Day Out
Celebrate the life of a young Darling Downs girl, who tragically died in a car crash earlier this year and would be celebrating her sixth birthday on June 7. Sadie’s family invite the community to come dressed in their colourful clothes for an afternoon filled with love, laughter and culture at Cambooya State School from 1pm.
3. Vigil for Peace in Gaza
Participate in a peaceful vigil for Gaza at Queens Park on June 7 from 3pm.
4. UniSQ Rugby Club Ladies Day
Join the University of Southern Queensland Saints Rugby Union Club for their annual ladies day with the theme of Cowgirls and Cocktails at 100 Baker St, Darling Heights on June 7 from 1pm. Get your tickets on trybooking.com.
5. 40 for Fortey
Support the memory of Senior Constable Brett Forte at the sporting event at Toowoomba Showgrounds on June 8, with a 40km walk or run event or the 4km remembrance event. The event will begin at 6.30am, register your spot at raceroster.com. All proceeds go to the Queensland Police Legacy Scheme.
6. Explore Toowoomba’s Dark Side
Join Toowoomba Trails for their eccentric tour of the town’s dark side on June 8 which explores the old jail and the tragic events that occurred in Russell St in the 1920s and ‘30s. Tickets available at toowoombatrails.com.au
7. Australian Trials Championship
Head out to Meringandan for the 2025 motorcycle trials championship sponsored by the Hell Team on June 7-8.
8. Parkrun
Keep up the motivation and kilometres in the legs during the winter months by joining in on the weekly parkrun in Queens Park on Saturday morning from 7am.
9. Sunset Session at Rosalie House
There’s nothing more spectacular than watching the sun set over the Lilyvale Valley, nestled among the vines at Rosalie House.
Warm up by the campfire, enjoy music, and indulge in a delicious gourmet tapas or share plate. And of course, a glass of wine in hand. Bring along the whole family to experience an unforgettable evening.
The winery is open all weekend, with the Sunset Sessions running from 3-6pm.
10. Markets
Stock up on fresh produce and homemade goodies for your weekend celebrations at one of Toowoomba’s quality markets.
Every Saturday Toowoomba Farmers’ Market is as 27 Lindsay St, East Toowoomba (near the windmills at Cobb & Co Museum) from 7am to 12pm, and every Sunday the Toowoomba PCYC Market is at 219 James St from 7am to 12.30pm.
