This coming Sunday thousands will gather around the country to commemorate what it means to be Australian, including a few rounds of thong tossing after the formalities.
Dozens of civic ceremonies will be held across the Toowoomba region to recognise those in the community who have gone above and beyond.

OTHER EVENTS
- Oakey Australia Day celebrations at Arthur Shooter Park will include activities such as a billy boiling competition, truck pull, dunny race, tug of war, thong throwing and sack races, plus a lot more competitions on the day such as best mullet and wheelie bin races. The Australia Day fun will also continue at the Bernborough Tavern, Oakey on Sunday from 1 – 6pm and will feature an inflatable water slide and obstacle course, live band and market stalls. - Toowoomba RSL Australia Day barbecue lunch at Soldiers’ Memorial Hall on Sunday from 11.30am.
- Irwin Lookalike Contest at The Rock on Sunday from noon.
- Blue Mountains Australia Day on the Lawn at the Blue Mountains Hotel on Sunday from noon.
- Australia Day $5000 Bowls Carnival at Drayton Bowls Club on Sunday from 9am.
- Australia Day Tag Team event at The Portadown Hotel on Sunday from 11.30am.
- Ultimate Australia Day Beach Party at The Grand Hotel, Oakey on Sunday from 1pm.
