Pesto, the Melbourne penguin who captured hearts across the globe, is ready to celebrate his first birthday as he sheds his baby fat and grows into a mature king penguin.
Hatching at Melbourne’s Sea Life Aquarium last year, Pesto quickly became an internet sensation due to his big stature and fluffy feathers.
Now, after a year of moulting, he’s set to mark the occasion with a weekend full of celebrations fit for a king.
This Friday Sea Life’s Penguin Playground will transform into a winter wonderland in honour of social media’s favourite fluffy friend.
Visitors can enjoy a range of exciting activities including meet and greets with the keepers, LEGO workshops and a behind the scenes look at Pesto’s journey from a chunky chick to a global star.
The first 1000 guests will be treated to free cupcakes, while Pesto and his penguin friends will enjoy their own penguin friendly cake.
