A fifth man has been charged over the alleged murder of an aspiring footballer from Melton late last year.
Konshu, known among his friends and family as Kon, was slashed to death during a violent knife fight involving up to 40 youths at Kurunjang on December 20.
The 18-year-old was stabbed to death along McBurney Drive, just metres from home.
Four youths aged 15, 17, 21 and 22 have previously been charged over Kon’s alleged murder before a fifth was charged with the same offence on Friday night.
Homicide squad detectives on Friday arrested a 21-year-old Kurunjang man before he too was charged with murder.
A 17-year-old boy was also arrested and released pending further enquiries.
Police were in December called to McBurney Drive in Kurunjang after reports of a wild skirmish involving 40 youths.
Konshu was found with stab wounds at the scene and was unable to be revived by emergency services.
CCTV footage from that fateful night captured several young men running from the scene after Kon was fatally stabbed.
Police believe the incident was a targeted attack.
Kon had recently celebrated an under 17 premiership with the Melton South Junior Football club before his alleged murder last year.
“Kon, you will always hold a special place in our hearts, especially your teammates and coaches and parents,” the club said at the time.
