Three-vehicle crash on Gold Coast M1 at Helensvale causes kilometres of congestion

The M1 has been brought to a standstill on the Gold Coast following a three-vehicle crash. Read the latest

A three-vehicle crash on the Gold Coast has caused kilometres of delays on the busy Pacific Motorway.

A Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokeswoman said the crash occurred just after 10am on Thursday affecting the southbound lanes near the Hope Island Road exit in Helensvale.

Nearly eight kilometres of southbound congestion had built up back to Pimpama, with the Foxwell and Yawalpha Road on-ramps at a standstill and cars queuing.

Northbound traffic was flowing freely.

The QAS spokeswoman said three people were assessed by paramedics including a female and a child who were uninjured.

Another patient was treated for shoulder pain.
