Kilometres of peak hour delays build on M1 following crash near Pimpama

A man has been rushed to hospital and heavy delays are building on the M1 following a crash. Here’s the latest.

Crash on the M1 northbound at Pimpama

Kilometres of heavy delays have clogged the M1 near Pimpama following a serious peak-hour crash.

It’s believed a male driver had a medical episode before crashing into a guard rail near the Mirambeena Drive off-ramp (Exit 45) just before 6am on Thursday.

Emergency services arrived at the scene within 15 minutes, at which point traffic was already bumper-to-bumper from the Dreamworld on-ramp.

Paramedics treated a man at the scene. He was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services had cleared the debris from the road just before 7am.

At 7.15am, about 14km of northbound delays stretched from Movieworld to Pimpama. Southbound traffic was also slow near Oxenford.
