Wet weather has caused chaos on the Gold Coast M1 with two cars spinning out of control and another multi-vehicle pile-up sparking heavy delays.
Emergency services were called to the Pacific Motorway near Days Rd just before 8am on Tuesday to a multi-car crash in the southbound lanes.
A Queensland Fire Department (QFD) spokesman said four vehicles were involved in the incident with debris strewn across the motorway bringing traffic to a crawl. About 10 kilometres of southbound delays had built back to Yatala.
A Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokeswoman said paramedics treated a man for minor head injuries, and a female with reported back pain. They were both taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in stable conditions.
At about 8.30 emergency services were called to another crash on the Pacific Motorway near the Heslop Rd off-ramp. A vehicle had reportedly spun-out in the wet conditions before slamming into another vehicle according to the QFD spokesman.
Both cars ended up in bushland on the side of the motorway. There were no reported injuries.
Two kilometres of delays had built northbound on the M1 as emergency services worked to clear the crash scene.
