TRAFFIC CONES: Juvenile criminals spotted using drugs behind the wheel of stolen cars

Townsville’s criminal element have filmed themselves getting high while operating stolen cars in shocking new footage.

SHOCKING footage that appears to show a juvenile criminal smoking a bong from behind the wheel of a moving, stolen car has been posted on social media.

The video, uploaded to Instagram, shows two youths behind the wheel of a stolen car late at night while the driver smokes from a glass bong.

In the video, a passenger takes the wheel and helps steer as the driver lights up.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that they were looking into the matter, and that the stolen car involved in the incident had already been located on February 20.

“Police are aware that people are posting criminal activity online,” the spokeswoman said.

“Including dangerous driving at speed. We condemn this behaviour as reckless and anti-social.

“Police are investigating and will prosecute where necessary.”

The video in question, which was uploaded to an Instagram account emblazoned with lurid slogans where juvenile criminals show off their escapades on February 22.

The spokeswoman said that police used all sources of intel in investigating and prosecuting such crimes, and encouraged residents to report the page and others like it.

One series of videos and photos, uploaded at about 8am on Wednesday morning, show a group of criminals showing off their latest theft; a RAM V8 stolen from Wulguru discovery park along with a $3500 wine fridge.

A cover, trolley and GPS device were also stolen from the vehicle, which has since been located.

Other videos uploaded to the account show youths hanging out the window of cars while tearing across sporting fields and travelling at speeds in excess of 180km/h.

Another video shows a youth filming out the window of a vehicle with one hand while he spins the car across suburban streets with the other, all in broad daylight.
