Acting Inspector Brenton Webb to be honoured at Queensland Police service in Townsville
The community are welcome to attend a Townsville service that will remember the life of respected Acting Inspector Brenton Webb who recently passed away while off duty.

A well-respected and dedicated police officer will be remembered in a service open for his family, friends and the community to honour his legacy.
On July 2, the service will be held for Acting Inspector Brenton Webb at the Townsville Entertainment Centre from 10am, after the beloved officer tragically passed away while off duty.
Queensland Police staff received an email last week from Acting Commissioner Shane Chelepy informing them of Inspector Webb’s passing.
“It is with great sadness that I confirm the passing of Acting Inpsector Brenton Webb from the Townsville District, who died after sustaining a head injury whilst off duty this week in Mount Isa,” he said.
“Brenton was a much loved and respected member of the Queensland Police Service and Townsville community.”
The news of his passing overwhelmed many with more than 600 comments being left on the Townsville Bulletin’s story.
Debbie Maclean said, “Rest in peace my dear friend. Still can’t believe you’re gone. A true legend – an incredible friend and one of the finest in the job. You gave so much to the Townsville Police Service and to all of us who were lucky enough to know you”.
Tania Sheppard who worked with Inspector Webb said, “You were larger than life, funny, committed and most of all the best human! They say the good die young, my friend you were the best of the best! You will never be forgotten”.
Former paramedic and member for Thuringowa Aaron Harper also paid tribute to Webb.
“Devastating news. Webby was so very well regarded by all. An awesome Police Officer with a great sense of humour,” Mr Harper said.
“He will be missed by many. Condolences to his family, friends & work colleagues.”
Others also remembered him for his personality, calling him one of the ‘nicest and funniest blokes ever’ and describing him as a ‘leader that people would jump into an abyss with’.
In a funeral notice shared by Queensland Police it said the “Family, friends, colleagues and members of the community are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service to honour the life and service of Acting Inspector Webb”.
It’s advised that dress should be ceremonial including ties, caps and medals or business attire for plain clothes and staff members.

Family, friends and colleagues of Inspector Webb are invited to attend the RSL Townsville, 139 Charters Towers Rd at Hyde Park from 1pm.
