Aaron Payne Cup: Watch Ignatius Park v St Brendan’s Yeppoon

TODAY will be about more than getting a win for Ignatius Park. This is going to be about redemption.

Last year the side was flying high, sitting on top of the table of the Aaron Payne Cup.

But when they met St Brendan’s College from Yeppoon in the semi-final, they came unstuck.

From there they were forced to watch as Kirwan High – a side they had beaten in the earlier stages of the 2019 competition – marched to the national schoolboys title.

However coach Steve Lansley told the Townsville Bulletin last week that this was the fittest side he had led, and that could count for a lot when push comes to shove.

Some players, such as forward Luke Jack, still have memories of their past loss ingrained in their minds.

But those thoughts are just that, in the past, and they will be determined to look forward and kickstart their Cup redemption with a bang.
