THE team behind two of the Gold Coast’s biggest bakeries have finally unveiled their latest project almost six months after announcing it.

It comes less than two years after spending $100,000 to open Cubby in Chinderah.
BAM TEAM ANNOUNCE LATEST PROJECT
Operations manager of all three businesses Daniel Creffwell said his team always planned on losing money in the first year.
“Obviously you’re paying back what you’ve spent but to have that small success at the start is very important,” he said.
“You’ve got to risk it to get the biscuit.
“The hospitality industry on the Gold Coast now is highly competitive, you’ve almost got to have a point of difference to be successful.
“A lot of people now do have an eye for detail in terms of what is and what's not going to be good.”
Bam Bam and Cubby have remained standing despite 2019 seeing more than a dozen of the city’s most popular restaurants and venues close up shop.
Mr Creffwell said business at Custard Canteen had been successful so far after opening last week.
“We want our shop to be iconic as well,” he said.
“We took over the space about 18 months ago and we were going to do a reno straight away but didn’t really know what we wanted to do.
