Sunnybank Hungry Jacks, Calamvale KFC armed robber on the run
A Brisbane Mum said she was so sure she would be stabbed during a terrifying robbery at a southside fast food restaurant overnight that she sucked in her stomach to prepare for the blow. HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED NEXT
A southside woman has told how she feared she would be knifed in the stomach during a brazen armed holdup overnight on November 17.
Police are investigating whether the same man, described as tall, skinny and with a dark complexion, was linked to three armed robberies within an hour in three suburbs.
Police were still investigating today after conducting patrols of the area.
No one was injured in the spree, which began at 4.15pm when a Hungry Jacks on Hellawell Rd, Sunnybank Hills, was robbed.
Police said staff at a KFC on Beaudesert Rd, Calamvale reported a robbery at 4.57pm, with another report at a premises further along Beaudesert Rd at Acacia Ridge at 5.30pm.
Bron Glanfield said she had just walked into the KFC when a man armed with a knife jumped the counter and ran straight at her. She had to jump out of his way.
“I sucked in my stomach, I was that sure I was going to be stabbed,’’ Ms Glanfield said.
“I literally thought ‘this is it’.
“I had to jump out of his road and saw my life flash by.
“I gave chase and took photos of him with my phone but he left very quickly.’’
Ms Glanfield said although the staff were joking about the drama and seemed unshaken, she returned later to check on their welfare because she was so badly affected.
“I didn’t sleep all night. When I got home I had a wine and got some hugs from my son,’’ she said.
The man had reportedly been chased by police through the grounds of nearby Calamvale community College, she said.
The incidents come less than a month after a Sunnybank resident’s change.org petition calling for a dedicated police station in the suburb attracted hundreds of signatures.
