MooGoo Skin Care begins refilling plastic containers to save on waste

MooGoo Skin Care hosted its refill event so environment-conscious residents could bring along their plastic containers to be filled up with their fave products, saving around 79.5kg of plastic.

The plastic ban is here

LOCALS turned out in force to support a Burleigh company’s clever plan to help save the planet, one plastic bottle at a time.

MooGoo Skin Care hosted its refill event for 2019 and environment-conscious residents supported their initiative by bringing along their plastic containers to be filled up with their fave products.

Company founder Craig Jones said since the launch of the monthly refill events in the middle of last year, the MooGoo’s team had refilled 1,371 used plastic bottles at its Gold Coast warehouse.

These amounted to 79.5kg of plastic which would have otherwise ended up in landfill or at a recycling plant.

“We recognise that all consumption has an impact and our aim is to make as little impact as we can,” Mr Jones said.

“MooGoo’s new bottles will be made out of plastic that would otherwise ended up in landfill, and all our paper and cardboard packaging is made from recycled paper.

“We don’t use bubble wrap or foam to package our products, choosing to cut up and recycle boxes to make packing materials,” he said.

Mr Jones created the brand’s first product in his Perth kitchen in an attempt to help ease the pain of his mother’s psoriasis, after he noticed she had been using a cream designed for cow udders.

His range has since expanded to more than 40 products and reaches customers with irritable skin problems in more than a dozen countries.

All ingredients are listed on the website and include only natural, gentle and food-grade elements.
