WHEN little Hamilton Gregory, 3, had no RSVPs to his birthday party in the park, his upset mum decided to take matters into her own hands.
Devastated, Martelle Gregory took to social media to invite the community to Hilltop Park at Ormeau Hills and was overwhelmed when 50 people showed up, gifts in hand, ready to party with “Hammy”.

Even the police showed up in a police car and let Hamilton sit on a police motorbike.
“I was terribly upset as I felt like no one cared about him, or the fact he was having a party,” Ms Gregory said.
“I just figured that I had paid for the jumping castle anyway and had plenty of food, so by putting it on the community page at least the food would get eaten and the jumping castle gets jumped on.”
When the locals started filling the park, Ms Gregory said it was “truly overwhelming”.
The guests enjoyed food, chatted, played in the jumping castle and sat in the police car and motorbike.
“The local police that came were amazing and made Hamilton’s day,” she said.
“Almost everyone who attended bought a small gift for Hamilton, even things older kids didn’t use any more were gifted to him.
“Hammy loved his day, the police and all the different gifts he got were definitely the highlights for him. We all made some new friends that day.”
Ms Gregory said it showed true community spirit for complete strangers to be so caring.
“Thank you from the depths of my heart, for showing my little boy, a complete stranger, so much love,” she said.
“I was so overwhelmed by the generosity towards Hamilton and the effort the community went to in such a short amount of time. It was truly amazing, and we were so, so blessed and thankful.”
