A LACK of response from Gold Coast City Councillors and bureaucrats is causing an increasing levels of frustration among the permanent residents of the Kirra Beach Tourist Park.

The residents, faced with the knowledge that the council intends to phase out all permanent tenants from the park by 2028, have written to the councillors and CEO Dale Dickson inviting them to Kirra to see and hear first hand the anguish the news has caused and to gain an understanding of the difficulties involved in relocating the homes.

Permanent residents committee spokesman Rod Pilling said to date, the only councillors who had shown any interest were Division 14 councillor Gail O’Neill and Southport councillor Dawn Crichlow.

“Cr O’Neill has been to meet with us and Cr Crichlow has also been very supportive but we haven’t heard anything from any other councillors or the CEO,” Mr Pilling said.

“We simply want them to come here, see for themselves how established these houses are and see what sort of impact the prospect of having to move is having on some of the older residents, it’s very distressing.

“The committee is sending another invite to all councillors but the lack of response and interest suggested they really don’t care.”
