A wash, blow dry and a brush and look who is making a comeback to the Gold Coast Show

THEY haven’t been seen for a couple of years but some well-known locals will be making a big return to the Gold Coast Show.

THEY may be among the stars of the show, but when it comes to sprucing up for the big event they can take it or leave it.

But when it comes to all the preening, washing, blow-drying and brushing they have no choice but to put up with it.

After all, a cow’s got to look their best.

“They get a bit sick of it sometimes but they’re pretty good,” Judy Turner said of her pride and joy, a Charolais herd that grazes happily on a huge block on the corner of Nerang-Broadbeach Rd and Robina Parkway.

The Gold Coast’s most famous bovines might not be fussed about the return of cattle judging to the Gold Coast Show but it’s something Ms Turner is looking forward to.

“I haven’t really discussed it with them to be honest but it’s nice to be back there,” she said.

And adding to her considerable collection of show ribbons is at the forefront of Ms Turner’s mind.

“I love it and I’m there to win. I keep every single ribbon and I’ve got hundreds of them. They’ve all got the winner’s names on them and where they won.

“That’s what it’s all about.

“I’m only a hobby farmer but its helps to put my cattle out there.”

The show will run full cattle and equestrian programs for the first time since the event moved from Parklands.

The events, along with the dog show will be hosted at Owen Park and the Southport Pony Club.

Along with those venues the show will be held at the Broadwater Parklands from August 31 to September 2 and is free to attend.
