Ms Bishop said she saw full-time coaching as a chance to give back to her local community.
“I’ve channelled coaching into something positive – I like letting the kids play and have a good time – the entire thing gives me joy,” she said.
Describing it as an “inclusive” club, Ms Bishop said the Allstars made room on the court for players from all walks of life, including those with autism, vision impairment and mental health issues.
“We don’t turn players away just because they’re different and need a bit more work,” she said.
“A lot of clubs don’t like to take kids unless they have experience and fit into their dynamic, so I wanted to have a space where kids could enjoy playing sport regardless of ability.
“It’s special to see these kids having so much fun – that’s why I do it. ”
