GOLD COASTERS it’s time to get off the couch and head back to your favourite gym but things are going to be a bit different.
After just two weeks in stage one, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has given the green light for the state to move into stage two, 12 days earlier than gyms anticipated.
Some of the biggest gyms on the Coast including Fitness First, Goodlife and Fernwood are yet to announce their new measures. When we get the word, we will let you know.
Here’s a guide on what’s opening and what to expect when you walk through the doors.
GOODLIFE
Robina, Bundall, Nerang, Coomera and Helensvale
Opens from 12pm, June 5
New procedures include: Hygiene stations need to be used when entering and exiting the club, disinfectant wipes need to be used before and after use, safety markers need to be adhered to on the gym floors and in classes for social distancing, self-scan sign in, all purchases at the kiosk need to cashless and no towel, no train.
The gym will have two commercial cleans a day.
FITNESS FIRST
Mermaid Waters and Robina.
Open from today.
What to expect
• You will need to book a timeslot to visit the gym.
• Max 4 sessions per week, can book 7 days in advance.
• Members will get 50% off fees for an interim period.
• Machines will be spaced.
• No towel, no train.
• Lockers and showers will be closed
• If you are sick, don’t come.
FERNWOOD FITNESS

Reopens on Monday June 8
What to expect:
• Temperature checks upon arrival
• Swipe access to get into gym.
• If you are not well, don’t come.
• Online MyFernwood platform still running.
• Wipe every piece of equipment before and after use.
• No towel, no train. Also, bring your own mat to classes.
• There will be a 15 minute break between classes.
WORLD GYM
Now open: Surfers Paradise (The Mark, 15 Orchid Ave), Coomera (43 Days Road, Upper Coomera), Burleigh (1/77-149 Reedy Creek Road, Burleigh Waters), Ashmore (542 Olsen Avenue).
Memberships will now be a pay-on-visit scheme.

Trading hours: Monday to Friday – 5am-10.30am, 5:30am-7pm

Memberships were cancelled when they closed.
New membership are $50 a week.
New discounted contracts “Never Quit Stimulus Package” and the “GymKeeper Package”.
There will be a 20% discount on the regular rate for first month of operation. From then on, the second month will have 10% off and the third month 5% off.
What to expect:
• There is hand sanitiser at entry and exit and in bathrooms.
• New procedure of a full wipe down of the gym at the end of each class.
• Floor spacing.
• There will be more sessions.
• Approval for more than 20 members per session TBC.
FITSTOP

Classes recommence from Saturday June 6
What to expect:
• Clients will be required to wash and sanitise their hands before, during and after sessions at sanitary stations provided.
• Sanitise all equipment before moving on to the next station using products provided.
• No towel, no train
• Cleaning will be performed before and after each session.
• Book your sessions via the Fitstop App and you must book your sessions before coming to the gym.
• Timetable is now a same-session format for AM and PM sessions
• You can only book one in-gym session a day.
• All sessions will be capped at 18 members
• There will be a decrease in sharing equipment and space between stations.
• If you are unwell, stay at home and enjoy “FitStop At Home” sessions.

• May have up to 11 classes a day, depending on demand.

• 10 classes per day
• New procedures include: disinfectant day and night schedule, different classes with patron specific areas for exercise, patrons are required to wipe down equipment after every exercise.
Palm Beach

• New procedures include: disinfectant day and night schedule, new entry and exit point points, exercise positions marked on floor, different classes with patron specific areas for exercise, 15 minute gap between classes and own equipment for each training session.

• If you are unable to attend, you have to cancel.
• There will be seven classes per day but more will be added if there is a demand.
Southport

• Bookings open on Wednesday morning
• 18 spots per class.
Broadbeach

• Trading hours from Thursday June 4: 7 days – 4am to 6.45pm
• New procedures include: temperature checks before coming into the gym, before you can enter you need a COVID chat with the instructor, when you check-in you will receive a sinister towel for the session and personal towels are essential.
• Between exercises you will have a 1 minute sanitising set to wipe down equipment (eg weights).
• They will hold info of everyone from each class for contact tracing purposes.
• F45 45 challenge starts on Monday June 15.
Carrara
