Just days after a popular holiday park confirmed its closure to tourists, a resident has been arrested at the site and charged with indecently assaulting a child.

Robert Saunders was arrested outside of his caravan home at the Aldinga Beach Holiday Park on August 24 and charged with aggravated indecent assault.

Police allege the 72-year-old indecently assaulted a young boy at Sellicks Beach, and was arrested by police from his caravan at the location.

Court documents revealed the man appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court the day after his arrest, and was granted bail.

However, his bail conditions do not allow him to return to his caravan at the park, which is known for hosting groups of schoolchildren.

Mr Saunders will again appear in court in December.

It is not suggested the park has any involvement with the alleged incident.

Neighbouring residents in the park told 7NEWS they saw police and detectives searching the man’s caravan after the arrest.

It comes just a week after The Advertiser revealed the park would be closing its doors to tourists just before the peak holiday season on December 1.

The news was anonymously announced in a community Facebook group where locals were divided over the decision to make the park “permanent residents and camps only.”

Aldinga Beach Holiday Park is popular during the summer months and offers a range of Yurt cottages, deluxe cabins and affordable cabins.
