A man killed when he slammed his motorbike into a pole at Paralowie has been fondly described by a friend as a “mad bastard” who adored his children and would drop everything to help a mate at a moment’s notice.

Chris Jones, 57, from Salisbury Downs, was riding along Martins when he crashed at the intersection with Charlotte Drive about 3.45am on Monday.

Locals described Martins Rdas “crazy” and unsafe because it was so narrow.

Mr Jones’ friend Paul Morgan came to the scene on Monday afternoon to pay his respects.

He said his Mr Jones was a devoted, loyal and genuine man.

“He was down to earth and genuine. He would help anyone, drop anything,” he said.

Mr Morgan said the pair met through a mutual friend 20 years ago and had recently reconnected.

“There were too many (memories), too many laughs and giggles. He’s mad, he was a mad bastard,” he said.

Mr Morgan said Mr Jones loved his children “to bits” and his other great love was his bikes.

He said he was “gutted” about the loss of his friend.

Nearby resident Linda Calvert, who has lived in the area for 18 years, said she wasn’t surprised there had been a serious crash.

“It’s crazy that road, and so narrow. What do you expect?” she said. “It was an accident waiting to happen.”

Another neighbour said the road needed speed limit signs.

“Because the houses are set back pretty much, it feels like a 60km/h road but it’s actually a 50km/h road,” he said.
