A young northern suburbs man has confessed to more than 40 vile child sexual material offences, which took place just months after he celebrated his 18th birthday.

Appearing in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday, Alexander Ehinome Omo-Irefo, now 20, pleaded guilty to 41 counts of disseminating child exploitation material and two counts of knowingly be in possession of child exploitation material.

In front of onlooking family members, Omo-Irefo, of Paralowie, read his pleas from the dock after a lengthy delay in proceedings arising from his counsel not actually witnessing him sign the papers.

“You need to do things with particularity,” Magistrate Simon Smart said to defence counsel. “You’re a lawyer.”

The court heard counsel for Omo-Irefo had attempted to take written guilty pleas from their client but they were delivered “unclear”.

Court documents show Omo-Irefo’s first offence allegedly occurred in October of 2023 and allegedly involved disseminating or taking “a step in the dissemination of child exploitation material, knowing of its pornographic nature”.

The offending occurred until June, 2024, when he was arrested by the JACET officers.

On Thursday, Mr Smart remanded Omo-Irefo in custody and adjourned the matter for sentencing in April.
