Paralowie teen Alexander Ehinome Omo-Irefo facing dozens of child abuse material charges

A Paralowie teenager is facing more than 40 counts of distributing and possessing child abuse material.
Alexander Ehinome Omo-Irefo, 19, appeared at the Adelaide Magistrates Court via video link last week for a charge determination hearing.
Court documents show Mr Omo-Irefo’s first offence allegedly occurred in October of 2023 — just months after he turned 18 – and allegedly involved disseminating or taking “a step in the dissemination of child exploitation material, knowing of its pornographic nature”.
He was initially charged with 45 counts of disseminate child exploitation material but in court on Thursday prosecution said they were dropping two of those counts.
Both of the alleged offences occurred within days of each other in June.
Mr Omo-Irefo has also been charged with two counts of possessing child exploitation material.
The 19-year-old was arrested by the Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team – a joint operation by SA Police and the AFP – in June this year.
The maximum penalty for the charge is 10 years in prison.
The matter will return to court next January.
