Alleged child groomer sprints from court

A southern suburbs man accused of communicating with children for sexual purposes has dramatically sprinted from a court building after his first hearing.

On Friday, 34-year-old Alan Mark Hesse refused to answer questions about his allegations outside the Christies Beach Magistrates Court.

Instead, Mr Hesse sprinted from the media out onto the road.

Mr Hannes, of Seacombe Gardens, has been charged with two counts of communicating with a child for the purpose of making them amenable to sexual activity.

According to documents released to The Advertiser by the court, SA Police allege Mr Hesse made communications with children between March 11 and April 1 2023 for a “prurient purpose and with the intention of making a child amenable to sexual activity.”

It is further alleged he contacted a child between July 1 and August 1 2023 for the same purpose.

During his hearing, Mr Hesse, wearing a blue T-shirt and black face mask, told the court he was yet to secure legal representation.

“Are you getting legal advice about this matter?” Magistrate Kylie Schulz asked him.

“Yes I will,” he said.

“I applied for legal aid about two weeks ago, I’m just waiting to hear back.”

Prosecutors told the court they would need fourteen weeks for charge determination.

Mr Hesse will return to court in April.

The 34-year-old was charged after investigations by the elite Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET).

Public Protection Branch Detective Chief Inspector Naomi Oberscheidt said police continue to urge members of the community looking for support in relation to child abuse or exploitation to visit the ACCCE website at www.accce.gov.au to find support services.

“Members of the public who have information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” she said.

“If you know abuse is happening right now, or a child is at risk, call police immediately on triple-zero.”
