There is no love lost between Sorell and Dodges Ferry and another page in this history books will be written when the two sides lock horns on Saturday.
The rivalry between the two premiership contenders dates back before many of the players on their lists were born.
The Eagles and Sharks clash will be available live and exclusive on KommunityTV from 2pm with the women’s clash kicking off the action at 12pm.
While the Sharks will be aiming to celebrate their past players’ day with a victory over their fiercest rivals, the Eagles will be seeking to avenge their loss from round four.
And while the Sharks have lost their last two games, coach Jess Tegg said they will look back at the round four contest to see what they did well to get back on the winning list.
“Both teams played a really good brand of footy (last time we met),” Tegg said.
“I think we just got a hold of them sort of half way through the third quarter, made the most of a couple opportunities forward and then that was the difference in the game.
“The last quarter was just a grind and we expect a really tight contest this week as well.
“Coming off back to back defeats, we are just focused on what we can do better and closing the gap between our best and our worst and we have seen that in both games.”
The round nine match up is played at Shark Park which is a smaller ground than Pembroke Oval where the two sides met in the earlier part of the season.
The Sharks booted five goals to three in the third quarter and seven goals to four after half time to claim a 19-point victory.
Tegg said his side has been good enough to adapt to the conditions of different grounds.
“It doesn’t change, we adapt quite well, our contested footy is pretty good for the smaller grounds but then when we are on the bigger grounds we are pretty happy to get out and run,” Tegg said.
“There is an advantage with that ground, it is a small funny shaped ground so we will be using that to our advantage on Saturday.
“We also have the South East Giants junior day as well, so it is going to be pretty jam packed.”
