The owner of a Redland Italian restaurant has fronted court, busted driving over the limit twice within the same month.

Scott Andrew Davies, 60, owner of Scott’s Pizza at Alexandra Hills, pleaded guilty in Cleveland Magistrates Court on Monday, February 26, to two counts of drink driving and one count of driving without a licence authority to drive.

A police prosecutor said Davies crashed his Nissan Micra into a parked vehicle on Charter St, Alexandra Hills, on the opposite side of the road, on December 13, 2023.

“Police became aware of the traffic crash and attended the scene at 10.30pm, the driver identified himself as the defendant and when questioned (he) told police he had consumed four XXXX beers,” the Sergeant said.

“An alcohol breath test revealed a reading of 0.136, his licence was immediately suspended.

“No one was injured in the crash.

“On December 29 (2024) police were conducting traffic operation on Boundary Rd at Thornlands when they intercepted (Davies) for a licence check which revealed he was subject to an immediate licence suspension.

“A roadside breath test showed a reading of 0.053 and he admitted to consuming a couple of cans of cider and knew he would be over the limit,” she said.

Davies had been driving back from his pizza shop, the court was told.

“When speaking to police he was aware it (his licence) had been suspended,” the sergeant said.

“Due to the (repetition) and contempt I ask that a conviction be recorded,” she said.

Davies’ lawyer said alcohol was something that had always caused issues for his client.

“He has been dealing with personal problems and has recently just started a new business,” a lawyer said.

“He is 60 and wants to get on top of it,” he said.

Magistrate Deborah Vasta said she took Davies’ guilty plea into consideration.

Davies was disqualified from driving for two years and three months.

Convictions were recorded.
