An unemployed woman from the Central West caught police attention late at night at Coffs Harbour when she overtook an unmarked police vehicle patrolling Hogbin Dr.

Officers had just driven through the Harbour Dr roundabout when a Hyundai i30 hire car “accelerated harshly” past them in the inside lane at 11pm on August 25.

The driver, Tayla Laneyrie, was pulled over soon after, and police facts state two men were also in the Hyundai.

The man in the front passenger seat identified himself as “John”, but officers knew him to be someone else, and checks revealed he was in breach of bail conditions.

He was arrested, and both he and Laneyrie became “agitated” as police called for a caged vehicle to the scene.

The man in the front seat of a Hyundai hire car told police his name was “John”, but officers knew that was false.

The man was restrained on the ground by two officers, while Laneyrie was told to sit in the Hyundai and that she was being detained for a general search.

Court documents state three female officers arrived and the 22-year-old from Manildra was asked to put her hands on a nearby fence.

“As police attempted to search the accused she failed to follow directions, moving her arms about, resisting police attempts to control her and pushing out at police,” facts state.

After being wrestled to the ground, she was arrested.

At Coffs Harbour Local Court on Wednesday, Laneyrie, who was not present but legally represented by lawyer Frankie Sullivan, pleaded guilty to three counts of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

Magistrate Julia Virgo adjourned the matter to Orange Local Court on September 25 for sentence.
