A mother-of-two has been charged over the alleged stabbing of a man on a rural property west of Warwick.

Latonya Blackaby-Robinson appeared via videolink in Warwick Magistrates Court on August 12, charged with one count of unlawful wounding.

It is understood the 24-year-old has not entered any plea to the charge.

Police allege Ms Blackaby-Robinson stabbed a man in his 30s in the chest while at a private property on Leyburn Cunningham Rd at Old Talgai just before 9pm on August 10.

Appearing via videolink from the watch-house, Ms Blackaby-Robinson held her head in her hands for a majority of her appearance.

It is understood Ms Blackaby-Robinson and the alleged victim were known to each other.

Paramedics treated the man for at least one stab wound and he was later flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Police located and arrested Ms Blackaby-Robinson at the property a short time later.

Defence lawyer Hamish Chapman said the matter would likely be heading towards an eventual plea, appearing to discuss bail for Ms Blackaby-Robinson.

Mr Chapman told the court the woman, while originally from NSW, “had plans to work in the area” and had “no risk to contact the (alleged) victim”.

The prosecution opposed any sort of bail for the woman.

Magistrate Janice Crawford granted Ms Blackaby-Robinson bail, under the condition she did not contact the alleged victim and reported to police once a week.

The magistrate’s decision caused the sobbing woman to say “thank you”.

The matter will return to court on October 21, 2024.
