One person is being treated by paramedics after a vehicle crashed into a creek in a remote area in Livingstone early Tuesday, trapping them and another person inside.

The incident occurred about 5.48am at the Marlborough Road and Apis Creek Road intersection at Mount Gardiner.

Police and paramedics are already on scene with two fire crews on the way.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said initial reports indicated the two people inside were unable to open the driver’s side of the vehicle.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said initial reports indicated a vehicle had gone down an embankment and into a creek.

She said two patients were reportedly encapsulated in the vehicle and help from Queensland Fire Department crews was needed to remove them.

It is understood the pair did not appear to be seriously injured but paramedics would not be able to assess properly until they were removed from the vehicle.

More to come.
