One teen has died and a second has been flown to hospital after a tragic crash on the Sunshine Coast overnight.

The girls, aged 15 and 17 and a 48-year-old woman, all from Peregian Beach were travelling in a BMW X5 when the crash happened on Edwards St, Sunshine Beach about 6.50pm Friday.

According to the Queensland Police Service, initial investigations indicate the BMW hit two parked cars before rolling.

The 15-year-old girl suffered critical injuries and sadly, died at the scene.

The 17-year-old girl was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment while the woman, who was driving the car, was also taken to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash caused delays for several hours and a diversion was in place for traffic heading north along Edwards St and David Low Way towards Noosa Heads.The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and appealing to anyone who may have information that could help to come forward.
