Coffs-Clarence Police District investigating after cyclist found unresponsive at Moonee Beach pronounced dead

Coffs-Clarence police are piecing together what happened to a cyclist pronounced dead after he was found on the side of the Pacific Highway. Here’s what we know.

Coffs-Clarence Police have called on the public to help as they investigate the discovery of a cyclist found slumped over on the side of the Pacific Highway, who was later pronounced dead.

A motorist noticed the 42-year-old man lying motionless against a road barrier on the bridge over Skinners Creek about 7.15am on Sunday.

Emergency services were called to the Moonee Beach bridge, but the rider was unresponsive.

He was taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have set up a crime scene and began inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

The investigation is in its infancy and it’s not yet known if the man was injured in an incident or if he suffered a medical episode.
