In a grim discovery police have found a body believed to be that of a missing Gold Coast man who went missing late last week.
On Thursday, Tweed/Byron Police District officers launched an extensive search after a 49-year-old Elanora man was reported missing.
One day prior, his car had been found abandoned at Ewingsdale outside Byron Bay.
On Saturday, a body was found near a railway bridge at Tyagarah.
While the body is yet to be formally identified, police believe it is the missing man.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
