Readers back the hottest venue in town after neighbours complain it is too noisy but rubbish in park a big issue

Readers back the hottest venue in town after neighbours complain it is too noisy, but rubbish in park is a big issue.

Boat crash off Burleigh headland

THE hottest venue on the coast, Burleigh Pavilion, has come under fire for disturbing the peace but many Gold Coast Bulletin readers have hit back, telling those complaining to have “more wine and less whine”.

Burleigh Pavilion has had more than 10,000 people onto its new decks on Goodwin Terrace since it opened on December 22.

The bustling restaurant and bar has also some had noise complaints from neighbours on New Year’s Eve and New Year's Day.

Speaking to the Bulletin, owner Ben May insisted the venue hasn’t done anything wrong.

Hundreds of people have commented on the story with most backing the business owner while others have complained about the mess left behind by partygoers.

Here’s what you said:

Sharyn Sargeant: I went there and it was great — lovely venue nice views

Paul Kensley: People in Burleigh seem to love a good whinge.

Melinda Caelli: So sick of people living right in the middle of a hub then complaining that it’s noisy … move to the country! Stop spoiling everybody else’s fun.

Amanda O’Neill: Those ‘things’ don’t need to be so loud so late at night. No one is saying Pavilion can’t be there or that they can’t trade. But what I heard on Tuesday night was beyond acceptable – for residents and other trading businesses. A one-off event is very different to a permanent venue.

Danielle Cameron OMG Complaining at 7pm and 10pm!

Ebonny Dawn Never mind the noise, what about all the smashed glass, straws and coasters our grommies have to walk through on the rocks below

Jasmine Robson The acoustics inside the venue are terrible. The basic conversations of people echo throughout the venue. They need some Acoustic specialist help to deaden the noise even within the venue.

Jason Phillip Cunningham The fun police have arrived. Get a life. Best positioned venue on the Coast. Congratulations to the new owners. Cheers

Aaron Brinsdon Let’s hope they also look into the rubbish issues. Piles of rubbish and stinking roller bins is not a good look. Cigarette butts all over the footpath, bottles outside etc

Allan John Would you like some cheese with your whine … gold coasters

Mitchell Crisp So local business is booming and the local residents want to shut it down because Burleigh is a family place and they didn’t appreciate a crowd on January 1st. Too much time on their hands? Like C’mon

Sean Allman 2019 if it moves its offending

Lyndell Dark Yet another great venue that will be ruined by people expecting peace and quiet when they live in entertainment hubs. If the area doesn’t suit you anymore, then move

Rob Rhodes Picked it before it even opened. Regardless of who is at fault here, this is the world now, complain complain complain.

Elijah W Finch Locals will always complain about change give it a few months and everything will be fine.

Colleen Hickson-vieritz 7pm and 10pm complaints were made geez wait until at least 2am lol before calling police. If you can’t beat em join em lol
