A Queensland MP who heads a reformed alliance to fight attacks on Jewish people has called for a thorough investigation into antisemitism in NSW Health after a shocking hate speech video filmed inside Bankstown Hospital.

Paediatric nurses Ahmad Rashad Nadir and Sarah Abu Lebdeh remained holed up inside their homes in Bankstown and Greenacre on Thursday, a day after they boasted about killing Israeli patients to a social media influencer in a video that went viral.

In the rant to Israeli influencer Max Veifer, Nadir said he had already sent Israeli patients to “hell”, while Abu Lebdeh said she would refuse to treat them, saying: “I won’t treat them, I will kill them.”

On the day news broke of the video, political, faith and community leaders converged at Parliament House as the Australia-Israel Allies Caucus formally relaunched in 2025.

The Australia-Israel Allies Caucus has now reached into the nation’s federal and state parliaments in its efforts to advance the Australia-Israel relationship.

Chair of the caucus, Sunshine Coast-based Andrew Wallace MP, who also serves as the Deputy Chair of Parliament’s intelligence and security committee, described the rise of antisemitism and the deterioration of the Australian Government’s relationship with Israel as threats to Australia’s national security and global standing.

“Australia is facing an antisemitism crisis, and it is incumbent upon all Australians – and especially those elected to lead the country – that we stand up, speak up, and show up for Israel and the Jewish people,” Mr Wallace said.

“The world is watching – allies and competitors alike. We must have each other’s backs in the fight against antisemitism.”

Mr Wallace, who travelled to Israel after the October 7 massacre and condemned the involvement of Palestinian civilians in the aftermath, said the comments made by the NSW nurses were “utterly reprehensible and downright dangerous, in direct contravention with these nurse’s code of ethics.

“A thorough investigation must take place into the incident, as well as into the issue of antisemitism in New South Wales Health.

“The pandemic of antisemitism is vile and virulent, and the idea that it is infecting our health services should be an alarming wake up call.

“New South Wales Police should thoroughly investigate the extent of harm that these nurses and any others may have caused to members of the Australian Jewish community”.

Mr Wallace said Australia had already seen the “scourge of antisemitism translated into heinous acts of violence and hate.

“Antisemitic extremism has emerged from the dark recesses of the internet to the public domain – to campuses, communities, parliament and now our essential services.

“Over the last few months alone we’ve seen the terrorising of Jewish students and staff on university campuses, a synagogue firebombed, childcare centre torched, property damaged, and a catastrophic terror incident avoided.

“ We need strong political leadership and real consequences to stamp out antisemitism and wanton hate. Regrettably, we have not seen that political leadership from Prime Minister Albanese.”

“Jewish Australians no longer feel safe to walk into their synagogues, send their kids to school, to celebrate publicly, or to post online. In Anthony Albanese, they have found nothing short of cruel hypocrisy. In Peter Dutton and the Coalition, they’ve found a fierce and faithful friend.”

Mr Wallace commended NSW Health for removing the nurses and handing it over to police to investigate.
