Suncorp Stadium steps up to stop chaos ahead of Ed Sheeran show

Public transport will be free for Ed Sheeran ticketholders from midday as steps are put in place to avoid the same crowd chaos seen at the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert last month.

Ed Sheeran shines at Brisbane concert

Free public transport has been offered from midday onwards for concert goers commuting to Ed Sheeran’s performance at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

The stadium has updated its procedures after last month’s crowd chaos at a Red Hot Chili Peppers’ sellout show, with huge queues and frustrating wait times.

The announcement was made by Suncorp in a catchy jingle to the tune of Ed Sheeran’s hit song Shape of You, which has been changed to Skipping the Queues, in honour of his visit.

Concertgoers have been advised to arrive promptly at 5pm for gate openings to avoid long wait times.

“I got the bus, didn’t drive so when I arrived, we strolled in just me and my mate,” the tune says.

The song also urged people to download the Ticketek app and to share tickets for visitors in groups.

The Ticketek app includes a map of the venue with wait times for people to view upon arriving.

“I’m in love with skipping the queues, I got there early so I didn’t lose,” the quirky Suncorp jingle says.

Ed Sheeran will also be performing on Saturday and Sunday night with fans speculating what hotel he will be staying at in between his performances.

Those heading to Saturday and Sunday’s performances have also been advised to follow the same advice regarding getting to the event.
