Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced a new date for “some aspects” of Stage 3 restrictions to be lifted, meaning more people allowed in Queensland businesses, churches and sporting arenas, alongside the reopening of casinos. FIND OUT WHAT’S CHANGING.

PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced that from July 3, Queensland will be moving into “some aspects” of Stage 3.

For small businesses under 100 sqm, the 2 sqm rule will now apply in a bid to boost the number of people visiting businesses.

Casinos will reopen.

“That’s all due to the tremendous work of Queenslanders,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

Mr Miles confirmed the Stage 3 of eased restrictions will be brought forward by one week.

Private gatherings will increase from 20 people to 100 people, for places like homes, weddings and funerals.

Queenslanders will also be allowed to buy a beer at the bar, while community sport will also be brought back.

The limit of 20 people per space has been lifted.

There will be no maximum, provided they have four square metre per patron.

In stadiums, up to 50 per cent capacity - or 25,000 spectators - will be allowed.

All of these new restrictions still require strict obedience to the 1.5m social distancing rules.

Families at churches and places of worship will be urged to also maintain a 1.5m distance when they gather.

The border with Victoria will remain closed and will be strengthened.

Ms Palaszczuk said anyone who has travelled from Victoria, including Queenslanders, will be banned from entering or forced to quarantine at a hotel at their own expense.

Ms Palaszczuk “more support” will be offered to Victoria to help suppress the virus.

Visitors from Tasmania, South Australia, NSW, NT and ACT will be allowed to visit Queensland.

HOME

- Up to 100 people allowed for a house party.

SPECIAL EVENTS

- Up to 100 mourners will now be allowed to attend a funeral.

- Couples can invite 100 people to their weddings.

- Contact details of those attending will need to be kept for 57 days.

RESTAURANTS, PUBS AND CAFES

- You will be able to order a drink from the bar and order a counter meal.

- Food courts will be allowed to reopen.

- The maximum number of patrons allowed at a restaurant and café will be capped at one person for every four square metres.

- Smaller venues below 200sqm can have one person for every two square metres.

Going out

- Casinos will be reopening and punters will be allowed to play the pokies.

- Nightclubs can reopen, as long as they have a COVID-Safe plan.

- Concert, theatres and auditoriums can reopen. They can only take on 50 per cent capacity or one person for every four square metres.

- The number of people allowed at museums, art galleries, libraries and historic sites will be determined by the four square metre rule.

Work

- The new roadmap says office-based workers will now be able to return to their workplace.

SPORT

- Contact sport, like rugby, will be back.

- Crowds to be allowed back at community sports events.

- Up to 25,000 fans or 50 per cent capacity (whichever is the lesser) will be permitted into Queensland stadiums.

BIG EVENTS

- Fewer than 500 people allowed, as long as they are following a COVID Safe Event Checklist.

- 500 to 10,000 people allowed, but a COVID Safe Event Checklist and approval from health authorities is mandatory.

- Over 10,000 people allowed, but approval from the Chief Health Officer and a COVID Safe Event Checklist is mandatory.
