Police are patrolling a popular waterfront strip on the Sunshine Coast after being called to a disturbance where a group of more than 20 “eshays” were reportedly involved in a massive brawl outside McDonald’s.

A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed police were called to Coolum McDonalds, on David Low Way, across from the beach, on Friday just after 9pm.

He said they were told of a disturbance involving a large group, but by the time police arrived on scene the youths had scattered.

He also said local police remained in the area for some time to patrol the street, talk to business owners and nearby locals.

He said no one was injured those police knew of, there was no damage done, and no one had been charged.

However, police were still investigating.

A Mudjimba local who was driving past said he was scared one of the brawling youths would throw an empty liquor bottle at his car.

He said he saw a group of more than 20 “eshays” fighting and was shocked by the “massive brawl”.

Coolum McDonald’s has been contacted for comment.

This incident at Coolum follows detectives charging three people over an alleged stabbing of two men at Coolum during the Easter holidays.
