Police had warned the public not to approach or pat the male black german shepherd, Bravo, for their own safety after he went missing from Regents Park about 8pm Friday.

A large-scale search followed, with dozens of police and the dog squad searching surrounding streets and suburbs on Saturday.

A member of the public brought Bravo to Logan Central Station about 9.40am Sunday.

“Great news! PD Bravo has been located,” Queensland Police Service tweeted.

“The QPS would like to thank the community for their assistance in getting the word out.”

He was taken to a vet as a precaution.

Bravo lives at handler Senior Constable Joseph Alofipo’s home and both were off duty when he went missing.

The six-year-old police dog is well-known in southeast Queensland, having been involved in several high-profile arrests.

Bravo made headlines in 2016 when he sustained severe injuries to his face after he was attacked by another dog on the job.

Bravo was tracking an alleged offender in bushland in Coomera, on the northern Gold Coast, when he was viciously attacked.

Despite attempts from police to subdue the attacking dog by using pepper spray, police claimed they were forced to shoot the animal dead.

A recovered Bravo returned to service and was hailed as a hero in 2018 after he bit a man on the groin as he attempted to flee the scene of a high-speed police chase.

Police would not comment on when Bravo’s next police shift had been scheduled.
