Police dog chases man through bush, swamp and into a lake
A late night training exercise turned into a real arrest for a police dog and his handler, with the pair having to chase a man through near-impenetrable bush before swimming across a lake.

A LATE night training exercise turned into a real arrest for a police dog and his handler, with the pair having to chase a man through near-impenetrable bush before swimming across a lake.
Police Dog Scud and his handler were carrying out some training last night on FE Walker Street in Bundaberg, near the Baldwin Swamp Environment Park, when the officer spotted a man running along the road.
The officer shouted at the man to stop but he ignored the order and kept running, jumping a fence and fleeing into the park.
PD Scud and his handler chased the man into thick bushland, losing sight of him in the dark on several occasions.
In footage released by the Queensland Police Service, the officer can be heard encouraging an eager PD Scud to find the man.
“Where is he Scuddie? Where is he mate?” the officer can be heard saying, as the dog pushes on through the bush.
The officer catches sight of the man and shouts at him to stop.
“Right, stop, or I’ll release the dog mate,” he shouts.
“Mate, the dog’s going to get you if you don’t stop.”
The officer is seen releasing PD Scud’s lead before both dog and policeman chase the man into a lake. PD Scud catches up with the man after the pair cross the body of water in pursuit.
Police said the man, a 36-year-old from Bundaberg, was arrested and charged in relation to “outstanding matters”.
