A FORMER employee of murder-accused John Chardon has told a court she picked up a box from his adult daughter that she was later told contained his “handcuffs and gun pieces” in the days after his wife Novy disappeared.
Lubricant tycoon Chardon is on trial accused of murdering his wife Novy on or about February 6, 2013.

She has not used her bank accounts, left the country or seen a doctor since that date but her body has never been found. He has pleaded not guilty.
His former employee Franca Giuseppina Canzoneri today gave evidence in the Brisbane Supreme Court about her time working at Chardon’s factory, and her close friendships with his adult daughters Candice and Angela.
Canzoneri said on February 10, she drove to Candice’s home to pick up a box which she then delivered to Angela who opened the box and found an item wrapped in thick black plastic.
“When I grabbed it I let go and I said to Ange that feels like handcuffs,” she told the court.
Canzoneri said she believed Angela had then put the box into a bag and thrown the box and its contents into a large bin at the back of the unit complex.
She gave evidence that Candice later came to the complex, put on blue gloves and began looking for the bag but became frantic when she realised it was gone.
“She was panicking… she was frantic… she was shaking,” Canzoneri said.
“When I saw Candice in that state I questioned her and said what was in the bag.
“She said it was dad’s handcuffs and gun pieces.”
A police intercepted phone call between Chardon and Canzoneri was played to the court in which she tells him that she had told police he was a good person to work for and that their investigation into Novy’s disappearance was a waste of time.
“They’re trying f---ing hard to find something and there’s nothing to f---ing find,” Chardon tells her in the call.
“I told them you’re (the police are) wasting your time,” she responds.
“You’re wasting the government’s time.”
Canzoneri is also heard telling Chardon she told police “she’ll (Novy) be back” and “I guarantee she’s (Novy) loving all this”.
The trial continues.
